My on going series that explores various environmental issues ranging from pollution, invasive species, climate change, and more. I also tend to focus on issues impacting Georgia and United States, pulling inspiration from environmental news, like the New York City floods in 2023.

Deer and Kudzu

A large driftwood tree lays on its side, partially embedded in the sand. Beyond the tree is the ocean and clear blue sky. On the tree sit five brown pelicans, and below and around the tree are six sandpipers. Under the tree towards the middle of the print is an abandoned crab trap washed up on shore.

Driftwood

In the distance are the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Georgia, painted in various shades of blue and purple before a pinkish purple sunrise. Then printed over that is a scene with a mother bear and her two cubs exploring a tourist/sight seeing spot. The mother black bear stands before a bench with her back to the viewer, as if she just got up from the seat. She is looking towards her cubs, one pointing up to a tower viewer and the other sitting on the ground after rummaging through a knocked over trash can, its snout inside a chip bag. Past the cubs is a cobblestone wall and the red, orange, and yellow tree tops of the forest far below them.

Trash Panda

Trash City

Panel four: Kitty stands in the foreground on top of the bus, the road stretches before them. And there are nothing but tree stumps as far as the eye can see, showing a dead wasteland.

Deforestation

Panel one: A barren wasteland of tree stumps stretches back into the horizon. In the foreground a rusty pipe leaking oil stretches across the panel. On the right side is a pile of protest signs. Running along the top of the pipe is the black cat, Dumpster Kitty.
Panel two: More wasteland in the background, but the tree stumps begin to thin out. The pipe looks rustier and is leaking more oil. Hidden in the rainbow swirls of the oil is a human and alligator skull.
Panel three: Now there are no more tree stumps in the background. The pipe is busted and twisted up, dripping oil into a large puddle that covers most of the foreground. Here Kitty has stopped in their tracks, ears back and back arched in fear. In the puddle a deer's skull & ribcage can be seen as well as a human skull.

A large deer skull dominates the canvas, its antlers are shedding its velvet (painted felt here). Behind the skull is rainbow oil slick, with 13 different skulls hidden among the swirls and drippy shapes.

Omen for Oil

A green figure is shearing a Jacob's sheep. The sheep has three blue horns, a blue face, and skin under its rainbow patchwork of "wool." The sheep's wool is made of various textiles. The background, midground, and foreground are covered in discarded textiles, trying to show just how much waste fast fashion produces.

Mend and Make

A subway station is flooded, water covers the tracks and the platform. Water is leaking from the tiled wall and from pipes in the ceiling. Passengers wait on the platform, standing in deep water. More passengers are in the subway car, one stands on the seats trying to avoid some of the water. Rats swim to the stairs, trying to escape the flood. The sign for the station reads "Exit 4, Timaeus & Critias." One of the passengers on the platform holds an umbrella made out of a t shirt scrap stained with ink from the painting.

Stanley Girl

Barbie

Arrietty is wearing a red dress and walking along the edge of a storm gate. Moss grows over the concrete. Next to the gate clover, wild strawberries, and grass grow. In front of Arrietty is a bunch of coral honey suckle growing along the wall of the house. Just outside the storm gate is a pink azalea bush. In the distance are a couple of American Beauty berry bushes and a Magnolia tree.
